Why Supporting the Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center Matters

At the Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center (CFBOC), our mission goes far beyond providing meals. As Kelly Kaze, Development Director at CFBOC, recently shared on ABC 8News’s Showcase Richmond series, our work is about fighting hunger and empowering lives. It’s this dual focus that makes CFBOC a lifeline for so many in our community.

In 2024 alone, CFBOC distributed over 3 million meals throughout Chesterfield County, with projections to increase that number in 2025. As an independent food bank, we rely entirely on the generous support of local corporations, businesses, and individuals in the communities south of the James River. Together, we’re building a network of care and support for our neighbors in need.

Programs Making an Impact

CFBOC’s programs are designed to address hunger directly while tackling its root causes:

Food on the Move Program

Our flagship initiative, Food on the Move, brings essential groceries to those who need them most. With nine major food distributions and a dozen smaller ones spread across Chesterfield County, this program helps stock the pantries of thousands of families each week. It’s a vital resource for many who might otherwise go without.

School Pantry Program

Hunger among children is a critical issue, and our School Pantry Program is tackling it head-on. This new initiative ensures that students and their families have access to nutritious food, helping young learners stay focused in the classroom rather than worrying about their next meal.

Empowering Lives Beyond Hunger

CFBOC’s mission doesn’t stop at addressing immediate hunger. Through our Resource Center and outreach initiatives, we’re working to break the cycle of poverty by addressing the underlying challenges that lead to food insecurity. These programs provide support for issues such as unemployment, homelessness, and substance abuse, helping families regain their independence and stability.

How You Can Help

Supporting CFBOC means directly contributing to the well-being of your neighbors. Whether it’s through financial contributions, volunteering, or spreading the word about our mission, your involvement can make a lasting impact. Together, we can ensure that no one in our community has to face hunger alone.
